ABOUT OUR PASTOR:
Bro. Carl Meyer has been Pastor at Oakland First Baptist Church since 1998. He served as OFBC Minister of Youth and Music before that. Bro. Carl is a graduate of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He has a total of 25 years service in the ministry.
In a Supplement to The Commercial Appeal, July 30, 2005, regarding the Dedication of OFBC's new facility, Pastor Meyer said: "The focus of Oakland First Baptist is reaching people with the message of hope and love through Jesus Christ. A church building is not an end; it is a tool. The reason we have a multi-purpose facility is so that we can provide a wide variety of activities and ministries in order to attract people to the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
"It is our prayer that God will use this new facility, along with future expansions, to expand His Kingdom here in Oakland and Fayette County. May we never see the church as a building, but rather as a family of people who belong to Jesus Christ."
Pastor Meyer and his wife, Theresa, have been married 29 years. They have three children: Jeff Meyer, Autumn, married to Gene Gerber, and Nicole Meyer. They also have five grandchildren: Brian, Carson, Madison, Chandler and Colton.
